Opera Mini v3.0

Opera Software on Tuesday released the final version 3.0 of its Opera Mini Web browser, which is designed for mobile phones. The upgrade introduces a number of new social networking features, such as photo sharing and a built-in RSS reader.

Other additions include support for secure connections and speed improvements. Opera Mini uses server-side compression to make browsing the Web faster. The software is available free of charge, but a data plan is required from a wireless carrier to use Opera Mini. Most mobile handsets are supported, but recent Cingular phones are not compatible due to the carrier's Java Virtual Machine that asks the user to approve each data connection as it is made.

SAMSUNG 1GB Multimedia SIM Card Supports Mobile Multimedia Environment

Paris, France - November 8, 2006:

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a leader in advanced semiconductor technology solutions, today announced the introduction of a 1 Gigabyte (GB) subscriber identity module card solution, S-SIMTM that expands customer experience in multimedia intensive services.

The 1 Gigabyte S-SIM card will be demonstrated at booth 3C 029 at Cartes 2006.
The subscriber identity module (SIM) card is a smart card IC-based card used to identify users in GSM mobile environments. As multimedia features increase on hand-phones, high data capacity and high-speed transmission has been added to the encrypted SIM solution.
Instead of carrying a separate memory card, Samsung's 1GB S-SIM incorporates a system-in-package (SiP) technology to carry high gigabit-density NAND flash memory without growing the area size of the conventional SIM card. The small form factor supports the compact size of multimedia phones.

The new SIM solution provides added convenience to the user. High data storage capacity with tighter security features ensures safer transmission of personal information and data.
The added memory on the security tight SIM solution improves the user experience. Data intensive files such as multimedia messaging, email, digital photos and video, music files and online gaming are among the features now capable with this SIM solution.
Samsung's new S-SIM is based on SIM interface to ensure compatibility with conventional systems and supports high-speed MultiMediaCard and USB interface for faster transmission of larger data volumes.

"This new high-performance S-SIM demonstrates Samsung's technology leadership and vision to provide ultimate technology and solutions for the fast evolving mobile and IT environment. The added data storage feature coupled with security measures of the SIM card is a powerful token in the hands of the end-user," said Dr. Chil Hee Chung, senior vice president of chip card and microcontroller development team at Samsung Electronics.
After developing 128 Megabyte (MB) S-SIM in 2004, Samsung achieved the industry first giga-level density card, 1GB S-SIM last June. Working with leading Smart Card companies, Samsung displays the 1GB S-SIM solution at Cartes 2006.

Samsung expects the new S-SIM to support the explosive growth of next-generation mobile network services and multimedia content.

S-SIMTM is the registered trademark of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
